On that evening a tornado with winds of
160 mph hit the community, destroying some houses, leaving others
untouched and killing one man.
Blair Auvil said he was at home when the
tornado hit.
"It was about 7 p.m. my brother and I
were on the front porch, watching the lightning, listening to the
thunder and the roar of the storm. We thought it was going north of
us," he said. "I saw the dark clouds."
